Gallery

In the Gallery you will find a collection of photo's of works done from 2020 and maybe a bit before in case of the early work in quilts. From 2021, into 2022 things took a leaning towards making hand embroidered boxes- with a brief dalliance of an exhibition in the Spring of 2022. For 2023 working on a bit bigger scale and a stray idea from another artist a few experiments in lampshade embellishment went on. With the completion of the wall hanging for a local Art Centre in the Spring of 2023 I suppose it should have come as no real surprise that work would move into the world of Collage. Lots of lovely fabrics left over and a few more sewing machine skills and off we went into appliqué and rough edge collage cushions. After the immediate panic wears off it's so easy to put your name down for another exhibition. With 8 months and an exhibition date of late summer 2024 off we went again BUT this time pictures were to go on the walls, cushions added into the mix and just for want of a bit extra a revisit of a few lampshades.

Many of the pieces in the photos have gone to new homes-I'm delighted to say.

In the late Summer of 2024 there was a venture into joining Artistic Societies. A solo exhibition is not for the faint hearted. But, you certainly learn a lot. Being able to enter an open or a curated exhibition under a Societies Umbrella makes it easier to concentrate on one piece and have time to experiment rather than an all on dash to have enough pieces to fill what seems at the time to be an ever extending wall space.

Working out and experimenting continues into the Spring of 2025. These works will be added as and when.

Summer of 2022.

Boxes, the work of 2021 and 2022.

Exhibited in the Spring of 2022.

After the boxes and the lampshades came the cushions, more of an experiment in how to put together pictures in fabrics. The large wall hanging for the Arts Centre in the Village had taught me a lot but there was more to learn for making pictures that would be able to stand up to more wear and tear.

Now we come to the Pictures, made with the same techniques as the cushions but stretched on to wooden frames and designed for hanging to exhibit. With a solo exhibition in mind there were three large pieces each of which was made up of four individual pictures described as quartets. Each quarter measured 45cm x 45cm and gave a view of the Estuary as through a window. Sunrise, Day time and Sunset.

I've included three more pictures that were completed in 2024 and were part of the exhibition.

It's difficult to say how the work would have progressed and indeed changed if there had been no exhibition.

Oh, and a picture of some of the Lampshades that were later arrivals

The pictures above are of completed works before the Autumn of 2024. The work from later that year and into 2025 are still to be added and will come onto the page very soon.
